Ship audits & inspections

GEMM can provide Audit & Inspection services as part of our specialist shipping and maritime services. We conduct audits and inspections on behalf of shipowners, potential purchasers, financial institutions and investors.

Our Audit and Inspection services include services listed below, structured to meet any client’s individual requirements:

1. Quality, Safety and Environmental audits, including: 

    • Review of standard operating procedures in place against standards such as ISO, ISM and/or other standards as required.
    • Inspection of all relevant records.
    • Interviews with key staff.
    • Detailed reporting of findings with recommendations for corrective actions where appropriate.

2. Pre-purchase surveys including:

    • Independent report on the condition and operational status of the vessel(s).
    • Inspection of class records and statutory certification.
    • Inspection of drydock and major overhaul reports.
    • Inspection of condition and status of safety equipment.
    • Inspection of deck machinery and navigational equipment
    • Inspection of accommodation spaces.
    • Inspection of machinery spaces.
    • Research and reporting on commercial aspects of the vessel’s trading.

3. Pre-vetting inspections including:

    • A good ranking in the OCIMF/SIRE Database is an essential tool for independent owners of tanker vessels. 
    • Pre-vetting surveys against Rightship and TMSA requirements. 
    • The overall objective is to identify any deficiencies which are likely to cause a negative response during a SIRE Vetting.
    • The vessel Operator is provided with a detailed report with recommendations.
    • Upon request we can also assist with Owner’s response following a SIRE Vetting with negative observations.
